SGF to PDF: free Go game record diagrams

Choose an SGF file and get a PDF of numbered diagrams in seconds: the game info in a table under the title, the main line split into diagrams, SGF comments next to each one, and the final position at the end. No sign-up.

Free, no account needed.

How to use it

  1. 1

Choose an SGF file (UTF-8 or older GBK encoding both work).

  2. 2

Pick diagrams per page and moves per diagram, or keep the defaults: four a page, moves chosen for you.

  3. 3

Click “Convert”, check the preview of the first page, and download the PDF.

What happens to your file

The file is sent to docraft’s server, typeset with the same Go template the app uses, and deleted as soon as it is done. Nothing is kept. Converting uses only the typesetting engine, no AI model, and your file is never used to train one.

Limits

  • SGF files up to 1 MB; when a file holds several games, only the first is converted.
  • Diagrams follow the main line; variations are left out.
  • Up to 20 conversions per hour from one network address.
  • The PDF carries the docraft.art address in small print.

Frequently asked questions

Is it really free? Do I need an account?

Free, no account. Converting uses only the typesetting engine, not an AI model, so it costs us very little. To prevent abuse, one network address can convert up to 20 files an hour.

Why are some stones missing from the board?

Captured stones come off the board, as in Go books. A stone later played where a capture or ko happened is noted under the diagram as “N = M”.

Are SGF comments included?

Yes. Comments on main-line moves are set next to the diagram that contains the move.

Can I add commentary, set only part of the game, or a whole collection?

That is what the docraft app is for: upload the same SGF and say what you want, such as “moves 50 to 120, ten per diagram, with my notes” or “set these games as a collection”. The free plan has 300 points a month, about 18 new documents.

My old SGF file shows garbled names. What now?

Just convert it: older Chinese files without a declared encoding are read as GBK automatically. If it still looks wrong, save the file as UTF-8 SGF in your Go software and try again.

Want commentary, a section, another layout?

Upload the same SGF in docraft and say what you need: add your notes, set only the middle game, ten moves per diagram, a collection. Point at anything to change it.
